ESCA Q2 Meeting Update

On Tuesday 23rd June, the European Small Volume Car Manufacturers Alliance (ESCA) held its second quarterly meeting of 2026 in Brussels. The session brought members together to review the Alliance's ongoing advocacy activities and discuss the latest regulatory developments affecting the small and ultra-small-volume automotive sector.

Members received updates on several priority legislative files, including:
- CO₂ emission performance standards for cars and vans
- Euro 7 secondary legislation
- Automotive Omnibus and the Industrial Accelerator Act
- EU Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA)
- Electronic Certificate of Conformity (eCoC)

The meeting also covered key developments beyond the EU, including the UK's Euro 7 consultation, the review of the ZEV Mandate, and EU-UK Rules of Origin discussions. In addition to updates on trade relations and chemicals legislation.

ESCA members reviewed the Alliance's engagement with EU institutions, particularly around the revision of the CO₂ standards, while advancing technical solutions on Euro 7 implementation and type-approval.

The meeting marked progress on ESCA's continued growth, with updates on membership expansion, communications activities and the adoption of a refreshed corporate identity.

As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, ESCA remains committed to ensuring that the specific realities of small and ultra-small-volume manufacturers are recognised in European policymaking.
